We’d like to wish everyone a Happy International Women’s Day!
♀️🎆 The theme for this year is #ChooseToChallenge - something we are particularly passionate about and actively working on here at Lumio.
The fintech industry is struggling to successfully drive diversity and this is reflected on all levels: from founding teams to employees, investors and customers. As Tech Nation has explored, only 19% of the UK tech workforce are women and gender diversity is problematic across the board. Lumio’s crowdfund has attracted only 13% female investors, in line with the other fintech fundraises.
We want to challenge this norm!
As an all male founding team, we know we cannot do this alone and need support, guidance and mentorship to hold us accountable. With this in mind, we are proud to announce that Sam Seaton is joining our Lumio Advisory Board as an Open Finance & Diversity Advisor 🌟.
Sam is a pioneer in Open Finance - she is the CEO of Open Finance platform and Lumio partner, Moneyhub, and sits on the Pension Dashboard and TISA’s OSIP Steering Group. Not only will Sam be a huge asset with her industry expertise, she is a fierce advocate for diversity in all forms. Sam is a founding member of Open 51, the organisation promoting the role of women in Open Finance and the new data economy.
Whilst this is a huge step for Lumio in the right direction, it is only the start of our journey. With Sam as our Open Finance & Diversity Advisor, we can accelerate towards a more inclusive fintech community.
Adrian Shedden, Lumio Co-founder & COO:“ We know how hard Sam pushes not to do things better, but do better things 💯. So we are extremely proud to announce Sam as Lumio Open Finance & Diversity Adviser - someone who will hold Lumio to account to build a sustainable business that works for all of its stakeholders.”
This International Women’s Day has given us some food for thought and we hope we are continually inspired and challenged to make changes for the better. Our community is at the core of everything we do and we value insights, feedback and suggestions from our customers and investors. If you are part of an underrepresented group and want to tell us your story, please reach out. We’d love to get to know you better!
